Shihan Nishiuchi explains and demonstrates the basic theory, exercises, techniques, drills and authentic kata of a wide variety of traditional Okinawan weapons.
DVD 1: Tonfa: Explains and demonstrates basic theory, drills, techniques, exercises and authentic tonfa kata.
DVD 2: Rowing: The basic applications of iyeku, rowing, including sand throwing and a rare 600-year-old kata, Tsuken-Aka-Chu-No-Iyuke-De.
DVD 3: Kama: The basic exercises, blocks, attacks, cutting techniques and capturing the opponent’s weapons. Also shown is the little known Ko-Bu-Ni-Cho-Gama, two sickles, kata.
DVD 4: Nunchaku: Includes nunchaku exercises, basic movements, chokes, takedowns and two special katas.
DVD 5: Demonstrates sai exercises, including basics, drills, throwing and catching techniques, and how to disable an opponent’s weapons. Includes the famous two sai and three sai katas.
DVD 6: Bo vol 1: Learn the most fundamental and important techniques needed to learn bo. The original version of the first and most popular bo kata of all time, Shu-Shi-No-Kon, is demonstrated.
DVD 7: Bo vol 2: Shows very practical bo applications, including more advanced techniques and the three famous katas Cho-Un-No-Kon, Saku-Gawa-No-Kon and Tsu-Ken-No-Kon in their original forms.
DVD 8: Hoe (Kuwa): This simple Okinawan farmer’s tool is transformed into a powerful weapon. A rare kata, Matayo-Shi-No-Kuwa-Nu-De, is also shown. The hoe is one of the weapons of Okinawan kobudo that is little known, even among Okinawans. For the first time, these ancient secret techniques are revealed.
DVD 9: Nunti: This weapon is typically used with two manji sai. It shows the rare nunti kata, Matayoshi-No-Nunti, fundamentals and advanced techniques against an opponent attacking with a variety of weapons. This unique weapon was featured in the movie Karate Kid Part II.
DVD 10: Timbei (Shield & Sword): This is one of the Okinawan weapons, which was influenced by the Chinese, since Okinawa is located near mainland China. This set of weapons includes a shield and a hand-held sword or spear called a Rochin. The kata Matayoshi-No-Timbei is shown. See how ancient people fought with these weapons and learn how to wield them.
DVD 11: Suruchin (Rope Whip): Okinawan fisherman simply tied two rocks together with a shuro (hemp) rope and used this as a powerful self-defense weapon. This weapon is one of the most difficult weapons to master, but is very effective once mastered. It shows how to use this weapon step by step without getting hit. This weapon is especially fun and challenging.
